Sonnet on Love

Do I love you like you were summer rose  and I was the thorn or even the breeze  Do we pair up like shoes, or like pebbles and the sand  Do we even know of reason, treason and love ?  I love you like the spring loves the stones  Bouncing flowing on to join the ocean  I love you like I needed no reason, but  The charm of doing things that are not supposed to be done  I did not take form in your dreams, i'm shapeless  Like vapour, like a fragrance fading slow  Because fading is how I exist in you  Without a reason, a treason but pure love  Because when I will have to close my eyes  I will remain as absurd as I always was

SONNET 24

Those sleepy shy dusks when perch on the cloudy sky And hue of setting Sun reddens those clouds in west The nomad tired bird then returns to his nest Bringing silent tear drops to your eyes, once gone dry And thunders make you guess that the heavens're set to cry. The dreams that you had lost then seem like broken glass As those rainy winds sweep by o'er the swaying grass Like an insane wish to weep... An insane wish to die. Dusky rains embrace soft earth steaming with each splash Wet soil's fragrance fills the sky with wind's sedate pace The coolness sooths your heart, yet warm tears wash your face And lost in lurid dreams your latent longings lash As slowly fragrance fades, those lonely midnights mourn You reminisce, sob and seek monsoon's short sojourn...

SONNET-20 ( TALE OF A SWALLOW :: ACROSTIC )

Tale of a swallow :: Acrostic T o see that swallow in the sky I peep A nd count my shallow breaths, seeking peace in L oneliness-hollow like this ocean, deep. E stranged insides burn of a pirate's sin. O n and on I sail; swallow leaves his nest. F ear of a moment when its beats will cease: A heart beneath a swallow branded chest. S wallow does come back; miles to home decrease. W hen spring steps in with flowers in those trees A nd dry leaves on that dirty dusty road L eading to my shack, I do sleep with ease- L onesome my death bed, ocean my abode. O ver oceans my soul will linger on, W hether I come back or forever gone. NOTE: Sighting of swallows in the sky is believed to be a good omen among sailors. When swallows are sighted in the sky, sailors become hopeful that there may be an island nearby. Here the old pirate peeps for a glimpse of a swallow in the sky from his death bed, longing for his home. Again, sailors usually make swallow tattoos on their chests on covering every...

A Haiku Of Indian Summer

A fallen dry leaf hits the cracking drier earth-- Summer's on its way. A goer sits down beneath a banyan tree, exhausted with thirst. Who's chirping sweetly? Is it a mirage of bliss-- I heard... I beheld. You're stepping away. Rains, winters and springs are gone-- Summer's on its way...

Your tale

A fox septet is a poem of thirteen lines with syllabic pattern 3,5,7,9,7,5,3,5,7,9,7,5,3. To make it more difficult I've written my fox septet as a palindrome, i.e. it reads the same on inversion. :-) You, in voids of stories untold, sing poems and ballads of truth- heartless and rough. You endure feelings, internal strives during hours dark living in nothingness. In living dark hours during strives, internal feelings endure you-rough and heartless. Truth of ballads and poems sing untold stories of voids in you.

AT A DUSKY ROAD :: Mirror Acrostic poem

{ This is the toughest poetic form, I have ever encountered. The rule is to write a poem where 1st and last letters of each line should read the title of the poem. To make it more challanging I kept my lines limited to ten syllables, though the last line is of seventeen syllables. I am glad that I finally managed to write a meaningful poem in this form.} A sky, that had been spreading blue aur a , T urned violet, then black, darkness was at bes t . SONNET-17( ITALIAN SONNET) < This is the REWORKED VERSION of a poem named ' OF A SAVVY SCHEMING HEART' by Ankita Mishra>

The tawny leaf, shaded with dusts of lust Parts from the crinkly stem, descends with shame. Veiling disgraced sobs, angst and pains unnamed Falls from lofty crest, betraying cold wind gusts Kisses river’s surface- mirage of trust. The river, sinuous, lures leaves from the stem. Poor leaves fall like feeble flies in the flame In swirling undertow, airy homes lost. River’s heart, hidden, lined with vanity Treats him with fake love and false sympathy. Devours his tears, sobs showing forged empathy. Then she flows on feeding her gravity. For ripples may form with touch of dry leaf The river flows on with no woe no grief.

SONNET-18

Do come back with the hues of setting sun To walk with me. That dusty avenue And those leaves with shades of an autumn-gone, They wish to live those lost moments anew. Bring those spring breezes with thy sinuos gait And lotus' fragrance swirling in the sky. Before this day would end and sun would set Leave thy footprints on those dusts of thy way. With the chirping of dusky birds, come back Walk on my path with every word I ink With each outburst of emotions, I sack Devour my pains with every verse I think. Do come back with the shades of setting sun And end my verses, that are left undone.

RAIN DROPS- A QUATERN

A quatern is a french form of poetry. Rhyme scheme- Abab cAca adAd eaeA A- refrain line Syllabic scheme- 8 syllables per line. The thunders roar and rain drops pour, Over green leaves and thatched roofs. Rivers and ponds swell more and more. Rain drops clatter like trampling hooves. Lightening flash and those dark clouds grin.  The thunders roar and rain drops pour. Cool, pure rain drops wash every sin Of each man and comfort his core. Little children float boats to explore Wonder lands which lie in their dreams. The thunders roar and rain drops pour. Paper boats sink with childish screams. A poet sits alone with his pen At cool nights… other people snore. A good wet poem the world does gain. The thunders roar and rain drops pour.

A PAINTER'S WINTER- A PANTOUM

{ A pantoum is an unique form of poetry which emphasizes on repeatation of lines. For more information search http://www.shadowpoetry.com } Winter comes with cool shades of greys. Oils become dry on his canvas. He again paints the dull sun-rays, Falling on brown earth and green grass. Oils become dry on his canvas. Dryer are clouds, rivers and dews, Falling on brown earth and green grass. Farmers behold fields' golden hues. Dryer are clouds, rivers and dews. He beholds shades of joy and Farmers behold fields' golden hues. 'Farewell autumn' sings the grass-land. He beholds shades of joy and He again paints the dull sun-rays. 'Farewell autumn' sings the grass-land. Winter comes with cool shades of greys.

SONNET-4

The shadow child crawls upon earthen floor Throwing long shadows on the sun baked walls. The shadow child crawls near a broken down door Under a thatched roof as the darkness falls Shadow mother cooks dried fish and rice. Smokes puff through thatch like shadows in those void. Shadow kids eat 'em all, (yet) hunger never dies. The shadow mother gets  salt and mango seeds. In the twilight those shadow children crawl. Look... A long coat clad shadow approaches them. Their lanterns burn slow...fuel oil runs too low. He takes their lanterns...goes back the way he had come. As he takes their lanterns far and farther, Look... Their shadows grow larger and larger.

REBIRTH OF THE PHOENIX

( This is a palindrome poem. Please read it from top and then from bottom.) Again phoenix rises... Golden feathers And skin crimson... The rebirth of ashes and embers From Divine death undertaken... Had he died really? Enchantments vanquished... And Prevails tranquility... Pyre after rebirth YET Rebirth after pyre... Tranquility prevails And Vanquished enchantments really died... He had undertaken death divine... From embers and ashes of rebirth The crimson skin And feathers golden... Rises phoenix again...

AN ELEGY OF A DUSKY DROP

Dusk was a dark one The sun kept hiding Creepy shadows lengthened And clouds kept roaring... Thunderbolts Howls of angry winds... You sat alone...alone Behind your lonely window And watched the cattle Returning from the pastures And the darkness Engulfing every single soul Sparing nothing Not even the windy howl... You felt the shadows growing Around your dark presence A creed of emotions Of some promised return Burnt your heart... You wrote poems Abstracted and dark About some dark history... Yet a drop fell From the stormy heavens And your dark eyes... The first drop of monsoons Perched on a green leaf With a melancholic tickle And a muted thud Ran along its spine... So did your emotions They creeped down you In some serpentine way Your pen felt restless... Rains poured on... On the thatched roofs And on muddy roads... A shadowy coolness Spreaded its wings You fell asleep With a restless heart... And you slept And slept...

AN ALLEGORY OF MONSOONS

Monsoons bring coolness And pain Wakes the poet inside you Takes you back To the days of yore You live as a child And the raindrops pour... Monsoons bring pleasure And fun Closes your school You run and run Along the fields Raindrops splashing upon your face Wet soil soaks More and more drops Smell of earth puffs and puffs... The farmer yokes his oxen Sings the ballad of earthen men You do not go home A happiness and peace You were craving for Fills your heart... You tear your notes Float paper boats... Monsoon makes them sink Yet you never do think You make more and more Till your heart gets sore And the raindrops pour... Monsoons bring happiness And death... You sleep on grassy fields Facing the cloudy skies And rains wash your eyes... You see diamonds falling Pearls dashing down leaves You remember grannie's fables... And you close your eyes...

FROM A WINDOW

You will never return again I know... Many wishes Have come true... Many assets Have come back Silent tears to eyes... And many souls Have appeared On that deserted street... This time is quite blue Somebody reaches me With a piece of news Of your arrival One day... Yet I wish to wait Love to watch the dusk For You will never return again I know...

EXISTENCE

Oh! I do behold My surreal existence Among the cold winds Sweeping from those woods... I feel it mesmerizing Touch of the cold hand After the winter rain Leaving the woods behind And facing the grassland... In a few moments I'll watch them swing Little grass flowers Overwhelmed yet grave Calm yet moving... I've nothing to tell 'cause winds never look back But the grassland'll go on And my existence'll tell you all...
